The area of Foča municipality and its surroundings in enchanted by part of the great ranges of the Dinaric Alps: Maglić, Zelengora, Volujak, Bioč, Ljubišnja, Lelija...

Maglić at 2386 m, the highest peak in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is 20 km southwest from Foča on the border with Montenegro. It is surrounded by the Sutjeska River on the west, Volujak Mountain on the southwest, Drina and Piva rivers on the southeast and Bioč Mountain on the southeast.

Maglić is rich in beech and coniferous forest. The upper forest border in on 1,600 meter, a above the area is a plateau with numerous ridges and peaks. The well known plateaus are Vučevo (with Crni Vrh peak), Rujevac, Snježnica, Prijevor, Mratinjska Gora and Carev do. The rocky slopes of Maglic show remains of extinct cephalopods.


 

Zelengora, beauty amongst all, a mountain with vast forests and pastures, rocky mountain tops, rich flora and fauna and its nine gorgeous lakes, is rightfully called the most beautiful mountain in BiH. It is within the Sutjeska National Park, surrounded, from north bythe mountains of Husada and Radomišlja, northwestLelija, Zagorje, Vučja brda and Obalj, west, southwest and south by upper Neretva, Gredelj, mouth of Jabušnica, Sutjeska, southeast and east Sutjeska canyon, Sutjeska river, Volujak and Maglić mountain, northeast Maluša mountain. The highest peak is Bregoč (2014 m) and its area is 150-160 km².

 


 

Ljubišnja at 2238 m is at the very border with Montenegro, with Radovina peak connecting it with Tara canyon. Konjsko polje, a vast grass plateau is between Ljubišnje and Radova, an area rich in water, where Draga river, a Tara feeder, starts, making a beautiful canyon at the same time.

 

Volujak is also on the border with Montenegro and its highest peak at2336 m is part of Montenegro. Volujak is on one side a very steep grass slope, and on the other side is an impressive rocky and inaccessible mountain range.It is surrounded by Maglić, Bioč, Lebršnik and Zelengora mountains.

 

Bioč is a mountain inMontenegro and its peak of Veliki Vitao at 2398 m, is the highest in the area. It is very attractive and challenging for hikers and mountaineers throughout the year. It is between Volujak and Piva Lake, leaning with its part on Maglić range.


 

Entire area is for its beauty and attractions well visited by tourist, hikers, adventurers, scientist and other nature lovers.
