Sutjeska National Park

Primeval forest Perucica is a part of "Sutjeska" National Park. It is surrounded by the peaks of Maglic (2386m - the highest mountain in Bosnia and Herzegovina), Volujak (1978m) and Snjeznica (1804m). Perucica forest is separated from Zelengora Mountain by Sutjeska River and its beautiful canyon. The forest is 6 km long and 1 to 3 km wide. It covers an area of 1291 hectares. The Perucac creek goes through the forest and it spectacularly falls down a 75m high cliff (Skakavac waterfalls) More info.....

THE LAKES

Crno lake (Black Lake) is located at 1450m on Zelengora Mountain. It is surrounded by tops/peaks: Orlovac (1962m), Orufe i Orlovača (1959). It is a fairly small lake but it is full of fish.It is 85m long and 60m wide. The lake is suitable for fly fishing. It is encircled by high grass. The depth of this lake is around 4 m at its deepest point.

Crno Jezero Zelengora

Bijelo Lake (White Lake) , also on Zelengora Mountain, is situated 500m south of Crno Lake. It is also known as Green Lake. The lake is surrounded by peaks: Orlovac, Orlovača and Trebova Mountain . The lake is circular in shape with a diameter of 40m. Its depth is around 3m. Its altitude is 1500m and there is no fish in the lake.

Bijelo Jezero

Donje Bare Lake (Lower Bare Lake), on Zelengora Mountain, is 200 m long, 140 m wide, around 4 m deep, and it lays at 1475m above sea level. It is encircled by peaks: Ardov (1723 m), Planinica (1874 m) i Litle Siljevica (1720 m). The lake is 20 km from Tjentiste.It is full of Californian trout.

Donje Bare Zelengora

Gornje Bare Lake (Upper Bare Lake) , on Zelengora Mountain, is located 1.5 km NE from Donje Bare Lake. It is 200 m long, 100 m wide, and its depth is 3m. It lays at 1515m above sea level and surrounded by peaks: Tovarnica (1683 m) i Uglješin vrh (1720 m).

Gornje Bare Zelengora

Jugovo (Borilovačko) Lake is the only artificial lake on Zelengora Mountain. Kalelija i Stog peaks are near by. The lake is 250 m long and 100 m wide. It lays at 1450 m above sea level. It is full of Californian trout. It is accessible by car from Cemerno (24km).

Jugovo jezero

Orlovačko Lake on Zelengora Mountain is 1km from Jugovo Lake and its altitude is 1438m (above sea level). The following peaks are found in the close proximity: Orlovac and Orlovača to the East , Bregoč (2014 m) to the South East, Stog (1821 m) to the South i Ljeljen (1765 m)to the North. The lake is 250 m long, 120 m wide, and its depth is around 4,5 m. Various endemic fish species are found in the lake.

Orlovačko jezero

Kotlaničko Lake on Zelengora Mountain is located at 1528 m, in idyllic surroundings and it is definitely among the most beautiful lakes in Sutjeska National Park. It is full of fish and an endemic species of triton is also found in the lake. The lake is surrounded by peaks: Dumoš (1882 m), Prutača (1817), Klek (1899 m) and Zimovnica (1742 m). It is 300 m long, 350 m wide, and its maximal depth is 10 m. It cam be reached from Cemerno by a gravel road (21 km)

Kotlaničko jezero

Štirinsko Lake is the largest lake on Zelengora Mountain. It is 600 m long, 350 m wide and 4.5 m deep. It is found at 1672 m above sea level and 1 hour walk from Kotlaničko lake. It is encircled by : Dumoš, Todor (1949 m) and Osredak (1828 m). 80 old stone monuments are found around the lake.

Štirinsko jezero

Kladopoljsko Lake, also known as Martin's Spring , named after a spring found 500m from the lake, is situated on the Western slopes of Zelengora Mountain, towards Kalinovik. It lays at 1380 m above sea level. Its length is 250 m, width 100 m and the depth is 9 m. The lake is rich of fish and ideal for fly fishing. It can be accessed from Kalinovik, or from the village of Obalj.

Kladopoljsko jezero

Trnovacko Lake is found at the beds of Mount Maglić (2386 m) and Volujak (2336 m), at the far SW of Monte Negro. The lake is not easy to access but it's possible to get to the lake from Plužine and Foca, Both options require many hours of walking through a difficult terrain. Because of this the lake is mainly visited by experienced enthusiasts.
The altitude of Trnovacko Lake is 1517 m, its diameter is 600 m and is in the shape of a heart with a varying depth. Due to its dark green color the lake appears as an emerald, protected by the mighty Maglic and Volujak Mountains. The shape of the lake and the impressive environment in which is located makes it the most beautiful lake in the region. In the close proximity to the lake is Perucica Forest the oldest primeval forest in Europe.
